For the past two months, I've been experiencing a rotator cuff issue or shoulder impingement.
My right arm and shoulder are extremely painful, and I can't lift or move them quickly. The pain is so intense that it's unbearable. I saw an orthopaedic specialist at Lam Wah Ee. The doctor recommended an MRI to check whether my tendon is torn.
The X-ray showed that the bones are all fine. It’s just that a muscle is pinched somewhere.
When they put me into the MRI machine, I screamed and asked to be taken out because they twisted my right arm and strapped it tightly to the side of my body.
In the first two minutes, there was no pain, but gradually, the pain became so severe that I had to be removed from the MRI.
In addition, I couldn’t tolerate the cold, even though my legs and body were covered with a blanket.
So the doctor just gave me medication and advised me to do physiotherapy.
Two weeks later, I went for physiotherapy. They said only physio can help in this case.
But so far, I haven’t seen any results. I’ve reduced my driving, because the pain gets worse, especially when making wide turns or sharp corners.
I can’t even lift my grandchild. The doctor told me not to use my right arm for the time being.
For the past two months, my sleep has been disrupted. I keep waking up at 1am, 3am, and 5am because when I accidentally move my right arm the wrong way, the pain is unbearable.
So I’m forced to get up, swing my arm forward and backward, clockwise and counterclockwise, then try to sleep again.
I don’t know when this will all end.
